Movies: The Hunger Games

I had big expectations on this movie. Expectations that weren't met. In other words, this movie was a huge disappointment. But I'm still happy that I used my last gift ticket to watch this movie. Warning, spoilers ahead.

"Set in a future where the Capitol selects a boy and girl from the twelve districts to fight to the death on live television, Katniss Everdeen volunteers to take her younger sister's place for the latest match." (imdbFirst of all, I didn't understand the plot. Why would this bloodshedding game keep people from rioting? Why would people like to watch young girls and boys killing each other? Maybe if I had read the book before seeing the movie, I might actually understand the logic of the plot.

Secondly, the romance between Katniss and Peeta wasn't believable. One couldn't help wondering were they really in love. They sure didn't look like lovers. Thirdly, none of the contestants really seemed to be upset about the fact that they had to kill other people. It didn't seem like normal human behaviour. Maybe that's why I couldn't relate to the characters.

On the other side, this movie was exciting and there was lot of action. I didn't check my watch at any point during the movie even though it lasted more than two hours. So at least you won't get bored while watching this movie :)
